( ? ) How much does it cost?

As you can imagine, the cost varies between projects. Contact me and we can discuss your budget and find a price that fits your needs.

( ? ) What services do you provide?

I provide freelance graphic and web design. My services include the following:

( ? ) Do I have to live locally in Montana to work with you?

Of course not! Technology allows us to work cities, states and even countries away from one another! We will work together primarily through e-mail and collaborative websites.

( ? ) How do we get started?

After you contact me regarding any project, I will respond accordingly and then proceed to ask you several questions about your project. It may only be a few questions listed in my response, or I will attach a PDF in-debth questionaire for you to fill out and return to me in an e-mail. In some cases, we may set up a meeting to discuss your project further (if we live near one another), but usually this can be accomplished over several conversations by phone or e-mail. During this time, we will also discuss your budget and deadline, and I will provide you with an approximate quote and end date.

I design anything and everything for print and online media. This includes:

( ? ) Do your quotes include printing costs?

After I provide you with a design quote, this does not include printing costs. You will be responsible for all printing costs. I will send final files to the printer that you provide. If you need help finding a printer, I can suggest some for you.

( ? ) What kinds of websites can you build?

I specialize in personal, portfolio and brochure-style websites. All of which can be customized to include e-commerce, photo galleries, contact forms, flash animation, custom graphics etc.

  • Personal and portfolio websites are a reflection of your identity or your work online. They can be controlled by a content management system (CMS) or a web master (like myself).
  • Brochure websites are an online version of what you would ordinarily see in a business' printed brochure. They also generally require low maintenance, which is less costly. This style tends to be used for small to medium sized businesses who rarely need to make changes to the content of their website. Therefore, they are not, nor do they need to be controlled by a CMS.

( ? ) What determines the cost of a website?

Web design and development cost is determined by the size of the site (how many pages) and the features of the site (shopping cart, photo gallery, contact forms, flash animation, custom graphics etc.) Contact me with your website design needs and I will calculate a quote within your budget.

( ? ) What is a content management system, or CMS?

Content Management Systems, known as CMS, are web-based programs that allow a site editor (with little to no web design or HTML experience) to update the written and image content of a website. Examples of CMS are Wordpress and Drupal.

( ? ) What is a domain name?

A domain name is the address for your website. It is what visitors type into their browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer etc.) to go directly to your site. For example, my domain name is sarahegrant.com

( ? ) What is hosting?

A web host provides space on a server where your website's files are saved. Hosting also allows users to access your site via the Internet by typing your web address into a browser (Safari, Fire Fox, Internet Explorer etc.)

( ? ) Do you provide me with a domian name and hosting?

I personally cannot provide you with a domain name and hosting, But I recommend a local Missoula company called Modwest. There are numerous hosting companies out there, Modwest is just a personal favorite of mine. It costs roughly $20/year for a domain name, and $6.95/month for hosting for two years at Modwest. To learn more, visit www.modwest.com Both a domain name and hosting are required to have a website and this cost is not included in my website quotes.

( ? ) What is website maintenance?

Website maintenance is updates to a website's content, including images and text. It may be done regularly or scheduled on an as-needed basis. I perform website maintenance to non-content management system sites at an hourly rate.

( ? ) I already have a website but I'm ready for a change, can you re-design it for me?

Yes! I have done several website re-designs. If you or your previous web master can provide me with the files, that can make the process move faster and cost less. If not, we can start from scratch and use your existing site as a resource.

( ? ) I want to update and manage my own website using a CMS like Wordpress or Drupal, can you design me a customized theme?

Yes! Content management systems (CMS) work well for all types of websites. I can work with you to create your own custom design, as opposed to using a theme that thousands of others also have. I will create yours unique to you or your business and will work with a talented Wordpress developer to code into a website that you're able to update.
